Hello beautiful Souls, my message today is about “Walking in the rain, a message from the Universe. My narrative today, understanding Anxiety.
I was inspired to write this with a special person in mind and I think about the lessons we have free of charge, from the Universe. The lesson unfolded today. It is about the analogy of the lessons from the rain and how this helps us to understand suffering with Anxiety.
The thing that strikes me most is our sense of self. We can indeed be proud for allowing and following our courage, to be vulnerable and to reachout when we can sense and identify our out of control anxiety and ask for help. This is such a space of strength and when we are so vulnerable somehow we reach within to help ourselves to become stronger and more determined to help ourselves. In saying this remember, all the answers always come from within. Moreover, when we are at our lowest, we will find we are really at our strongest.
For me the best way to describe the feeling of anxiety is like something we experience. It's like when you walk in the rain, you can feel the rain AND know you are in the rain. You feel the wetness of the rain drops and… you ALSO know you are NOT the rain itself. We go for a swim and we get wet. When it starts to rain, we run for cover or maybe we put up an umbrella because we are afraid of getting wet!
I think about the vital importance of the rain, its uncanny likeness to our feelings of anxiety and how it satisfies the earth and provides sustenance to survival. It could be in huge gulps or maybe… just a trickle as it gently runs down with wet tears that fall on our face. This could also come upon us with no warning and the flood gates open… There may be a violent storm, with uncontrolled bursts and then… just as quickly, a total calm.. It would just depend on how thirsty or dry the earth is. It could be a drizzle of rain for days and then clear up or it could be a sudden big downpour. The truth is, no matter what...we are surprised by it.
Sometimes the floods are destructive and damage everything in their path. Maybe it's washing away the dirt and clearing the air. With the ever changing weather, the clouds become full and there could be humidity too and then the clouds burst when the clouds can hold no more water and… it rains. This overwhelming feeling and irrational space is the brain's way of saying “ put up the umbrella and take cover.” It is the start of the airing and drying time. A space to say we are not OK, we need some protection from the rain and the umbrella is always ready if we choose to open it.
The rain will not last forever, the sun comes out ,the warmth and compassion is felt and we can get dry in the sun. The healing and growth takes place as we allow time for the rain to drain and then be absorbed into the ground. The ground will then feel firm and we will have the grounding standing steady and tall. A rainbow will indicate the end of the storm and the sun will shine again. Sometimes the sun will dry the rain and sometimes the wetness just evaporates and disappears .Then as we heal, we will see the first green shoot spout and become a stalk. That stalk is the beginning of the wonderous growth and brings with it life! This opportunity to feel so vulnerable to all the elements and to brave this thing called life.
We each have an understanding that we can't give our present crisis the power to define the options that are now on offer. Sometimes the unknown, unsafe and uncertainty in life gives us the opportunity to see more options. Remember too, that Anxiety is about fear and the fear that is in our mind, it is being overly concerned and fearful of something that you THINK MAY happen. You are not alone, the rain comes along and washes you clean and you will know… you will be OK. It was only a temporary setback, this too shall pass. Maybe now is the time for you to go out in the rain and feel it, yet don't become it. The thing with Anxiety is to give yourself permission to go easy on yourself and remember, whatever you do today... is enough!
